Default DWM Luger Magazines

I am new to Luger pistols and trying to learn all I can about the one I acquired. Did DWM pistols all come with marked magazines and were all 1918 K models wood bottoms? Any help on the subject, including things I did not know to ask, would be appreciated. I have a 1918 DWM K-type, #4961. It came with a unmarked wood bottom steel magazine. Thanks.

Jeff..There were nothing but wooden pulls on German Luger magazines in all of 1918. The end of the war, 1918 was a time of some scarcity and confusion. I would think that your pistol would have had a serialed magazine but it IS possible that it was left without. There are other examples of German markings being left off this late in the war so 1918 is somewhat of an enigma.

My guess is that Jeff is referring to the K suffix to the serial number.
