1915 doubles!!

I've never had a Luger double on me.

Check your sear and firing pin engagement surfaces. If someone has filed/stoned them down to "improve" the trigger pull, they may have taken them too far.

Also inspect the sear bar to make sure it doesn't have crud in it that's interfering with proper function.

So you are saying that some times the gun fails to strike the primer, yet other times it double fires?

I've seen it a couple times; so far only with mismatched pistols.

Like Doubs said, check and make sure it is clean.

Sear bar spring being weak can be a cause, as can someone messing with the sear engagement to give you that light trigger pull.
Lugers just don't have nice, light trigger pulls- if they do they probably are borderline for "doubling". JMHO.

I think what he is saying is that he has two separate 1915 Lugers. One doesn't fire or even hit the primers, the other double fires.

I read one 1915 with a light trigger pull that doubles.

In another post I have a 1915 4 inch that did not strike the primer... FTF

I might add the 1915 Artillery in in pristine condition and all matching, so is the 4 inch .

From the comments I will check for old great/oil build up

I had a pistol that doubled. I checked out the trigger spring and someone had replaced the lost original with a ball point pen spring. Resulted in a VERY light and smooth trigger pull but doubles and triples.

I had two(2) Lugers that would double, and BOTH had very light trigger return springs/trigger pulls!!! I replaced the springs, and no more doubling!! It is impressive when a Luger doubles.......that action is fast!!!

If a Luger doubles it sometimes comes from a weak trigger bar spring. If this little flat spring is too weak the trigger bar cannot catch the firing pin quickly enough while the toggle moves back into the ready to fire position. You can remove the spring and bend it a little to put more force on the trigger bar. But then the trigger becomes harder to be pulled.

The little plunger at the front of the sear bar is the disconnector.

If it remains stuck out of the sear bar it can cause doubling when it encounters the trigger again at the end of the Luger's action cycle. Any dirt or grit in that plunger is suspect. Push it in and see if there is any resistance.

Grip can contribute to doubling too. If it's too lose, the gun can rock in your hand.
