Hi Ed,
Here is my WAG... Just after R. Gibson's book in 1975 first came out, the collector's appetite for all lugers HK was piqued and all were snatched up. Now those folks of "advancing years" are selling them off (through dealers) to the next generation of Owners...30 years later. Just like my Swiss beauties...you are welcomed to buy them from me in year 2030 IF I remember you and IF I remember I even have Swiss lugers... |

I think Pete is right on. This sort of thing has been happening with many rare Lugers, not just HK's. Even though the nay sayers are having a field day claiming they are "too coincidental" or "boosted" or downright "fakes", I firmly believe opportunity has shown itself. Maintaining vigilance, one can pick up some "gems". Also, I think HK's were overdue..Simpsons had not listed any for some time....law of averages.

Ed,
Do not forget this "Holy Grail" HK luger (their words...not mine) on the Kontos site : http://www.midwestfirearms.com/lugers.asp |

I agree, I was just surprised to see so many in such a short period of time. After looking closer, the top two on gunbroker have been there a while, same as Hoffmann's.
I wouldn't mind a reblue or uggie krieg, just to have a rep piece but $3695 I think is about $1600-$2000 too much! Ed |

Ed,
The first person to view my Krieghof P 59 bought it last week. Hated to see it go, but was for a good family cause and a very high price. I am glad it went to a local collector, but would have liked to see it go to a Forum Member. Jack
