new to me luger curious what the markings mean
Hello, I recently purchased this luger locally and was curious as to what some of the markings are, parts match besides the back plate and toggle it seems (extractor is mismatched as well)
42 where the date code is, eagle with downward wings with perhaps a rp or pp above it with a line i will take pictures shortly |

The "42" is the year that the receiver was made. Likely a Mauser receiver.
The other mark looks like a firing proof after the Luger was rebarrelled. Your Luger is made up from parts from several Lugers. The "S/42" link was donated from a much earlier Luger. Marc

Fairly recently refinished, judging from the marks on the rear of the frame from the toggle.
The TP inspection denotes a police used luger, as does the now removed sear safety. Any markings on the front grip strap? How about a picture of the left side with grip removed? And of the front of the frame with serial number. Can't tell but is there some mark or damage on the left receiver near the hole for the sear safety spring?

The marking on the barrel (TP eagle) is for "Technik Politzeischule" in Berlin. The barrel may have been a replacement installed at the school. I have a 1938 S/42 commercial in the v block with this marking on the barrel as well as the eagle L stamping.

What's the sn? I have a 41 with "all matching" sn 402, 02 being marked on many parts. Maybe we have each other's parts?
