Expert opinion needed: WWII bring back Luger P08, with documentation

Hi all, I just acquired my first Luger and was referred here to get some information.

I recently loaned money to a friend who has an FFL. He knows that I collect WWII small arms, and has offered this Luger P08 as partial payment. It has both copies of the bring back certificate with it. The pistol is numbers matching except for the magazines, and is marked 1915 DWM.

I don't know much about Lugers so any help with the hallmarks and a rough value is appreciated. Thank you!

Interesting, but slightly rougher army 1915 Luger - since it was brought back, it likely was used through the weimar period and then the nazi era.

Couple of comments
- the sideplate, it looks double struck on the #4 - and its an erfurt sideplate, same number (good catch Curt)
---The grips are marked 7784 - with few exceptions, grips are only marked with the last two, and not all 4 digits (Simsons are, but these didn't look like Simson marked to me)
-----The rear toggle pin, it is marked #84 - this was required in the 30's, so it must have gone -back into depot or other place that numbered it (or it was done post-war)

Value - is it all matching?
How is the magazine marked?
Any loading tool or extra magazine?

I would say $800-$1000 (modified value) - it'd be worth more if it was in nicer condition.

The side plate is off an Erfurt which puts the gun as a mismatch so value in it's condition would put it more like $800-$1000.

The magazines are not matching, and it does have the loading tool.

Is there any date on the holster? Or maybe a makers mark somewhere??… best, til….lat'r...GT....

The pistol is more of a shooter grade than anything.
Close to $1000 by itself. Some folks put value on it with the the papers.
However, don't let anyone BS you on this.
The extra mag, holster, and tool are of significant value.

The one-piece back makes it a WWII holster, unless I'm mistaken. Nice shape, too, so it's worth a couple hundred at least. Wiemar repairs often incorporated leftover Erfurt parts, and I have a 1917/1920 DWM former Artillery with a matching Erfurt takedown lever. Unless there are Nazi eagles found, the rework was done before they came to power. Regardless whether it's a shooter or not, get busy and address that active rust!
