Newbie says hello and evaluation of a pistol

Hello folks
I recently started collecting vintage firearms and now have 4 vintage pieces.
1 is a 1943 S'G' M1 Carbine
2 is a 1921 Colt "Army Special" revolver
3 is a 1947 Colt "Government Model" 45 ACP
and 4 is a 1918 Colt "Black Army" 45 ACP

I have found a friend that has a Luger and I want to buy it.
All I know right now is that it is a 1915 with the fancy DWM on the top and it is in reasonably good condition.

The reason I am posting this is that I will be getting the pistol either later this afternoon or tomorrow to evaluate more closely.

I will take detailed pics and try to post them to get you Luger guys to help me evaluate a fair price for the pistol(if you will).

I am going to attempt to post a pic of my 45 just to test the waters.
I hope y'all don't mind.

Alan, use the forum upload feature, then after uploadign the picture, then copy it, and click on IMG and paste the url there.

Ensure you use ADD REPLY and not quick reply.

That's a 1911 Colt (at least the frame) made before 1927. 1911A1 frames are beveled for short trigger access.

Please post pictures here on this forum, as many times the pictures in photo bucket, etc get used to much or deleted and then the learning tool is gone for everyone.

Here is what I see
A 1915 German Luger with all matching numbers Except the magazine and (unfortuanatly) the Toggle.

I am not sure about the overall condition .

What would be a Fair price to offer for this pistol?

Alan,

Considering the pitted areas. My opinion would be $500-$600 tops. It's just barely over shooter grade. I would suggest waiting and finding one in better condition if you are looking for a collector grade Luger.

Am I right about the numbers,or is it common for them to have different numbers on the toggle?

Hate to say it but Ron is right, and while mixed numbered guns are readly found, its the total matching numbered guns that are worth investing in, of course there are exceptions to the rule 500/550 tops, Ron, PL 2 elk 0.....

I wanted to thank you guys for all your help.
I decided not to get that Luger and instead I bought this

I guess I will just keep boring you guys with my other guns untill I find a luger I like.

By the way the picture is of a Winchester Model 1892 32-20 WCF from 1907

Its a rooting tooting cowboy type gun

ala, i just got a matching 1915 DWM luger,less clip(which i proptly broke) but its all matching, way less pitting but not so good of a blue, kinda a yellow color, less the toggle, thats blue. also the clip on the ww1's is wood? bottom. got it for 500. they are around.
