This piece appears to be quite unusual. It rests in the higher range of the accepted 1906 serial #'s. The "loaded" on the extractor would seem to mean that it was definitely intended for the US market, making the Austrian bring back theory tenous at best. One could say that it is simply an 06 eagle without the eagle. Most of these eagles were stamped "cal 9mm" on the clip bottom, but certainly "germany" stamped ones must exist (although more common on 1920 commercials). The "HK" part of the description has got to be spurious, Jone's book doesn't show this marking. Certainly Krieghoff wasn't involved in 1906! $2500 seems to be a fair price IF it is truly original, but who can tell? Nothing like this appears in Kenyon's, Datig's or Walter's books. Anyone out there care to comment?

Given that there is no eagle chamber marking, the "Loaded" extractor indicates that it was probably intended for export to an English speaking country other than the US. I say "probably" since, even at this early date, English was quickly replacing French as the language of commerce and trade. Therefore, English language markings could be destined for almost anywhere.
Most of the auction description is garbage (as Herb has noted, the Krieghoff association is as phoney as a $3 bill). I do not know from what orifice the "I DO NOT FEEL AS THOUGH THERE WAS OVER 35 OF THESE GUNS DONE" statement was pulled, as I know of absolutely no documentation that would support such a statement. However, discounting the hyperbole, the gun could be totally legitimate. There is a high probability that a Luger in this configuration is a legitimate commercial variation. Only first-hand inspection would substantiate authenticity.
