Question Personal avatar

Dear Sirs!

Would like to have an Avatar, but a personal one, not the offered selection.

Is this possible? To whom must I send my ( small ) pic ??

Thanks, Hermann

Guten Tag Hermann,

You can enter your own avatar from your own computer... to do this you must follow these steps.

Please make your personal avatar image approximately the same width (specifically the size left to right) as my own. You have some flexibility here, just make sure it doesn't distort a message page when it appears. If it does, then fix your image and follow this procedure until you get it right...This may require you to resize your photo.

One your avatar is the correct size, then upload this photo using the standard Lugerforum upload procedure from our homepage menu.

Capture the URL of your uploaded avatar image when it appears on the screen by selecting it with your mouse and then right click on your selection and choose "copy" from the menu.

Then go to the message board pages and select the "my profile" link at the top of the page.

When you get the MY PROFILE page on your screen, you will see a link » View/Update Profile « under your name.

When you take that link, you will see your membership profile and see the information you are permitted to change yourself. There will be a link in the middle of the page "Select a different Avatar Image" to change your avatar.

Make sure you don't have any pop-up blocker software running and click on that link. In the pop-up dialog box that appears, there will be a text entry space for the URL of the avatar you want to use. "Paste" your URL into this space and click on the button "Set this URL"

Then you will see your avatar appear in the pop-up dialog box. Click on "Select this Avatar" and the box will close and your avatar should appear in your profile. Then click on the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of that page, and your avatar should appear the next time you make a message post...

I know it sounds complex, but it really is not... try it and see.

If you have a problem, then let me know and I will assist you as soon as I see the problem. (It might take a day or two since I don't usually check into the forum on weekends)

If you avatar turns out to be too big, or for some other reason it causes a problem, I will adjust it for you.

I hope this has been helpful. thanks for asking this question... my answer should be able to help others who have wondered how to do this.

Thanks, John, did it ( very accurate description! ). Hope it appears soon.

Looks like its side/height ratio was changed, it was not quadratic originally??

It shows a Mauser Parabellum of 77, what else did you all think ;-)

Arminius, Your avatar has been adjusted to the largest it should be without distorting low resolution screens... thanks for sending me the URL so I could work on it.
