The name lives on, and they offer classic Model 37--and a 1911, which hadn't been made by Ithaca since WWII.

There was mention of a member on another forum who had made a copy of the 1905 (?) (that was submitted to the original trials) from a M1911A1 but I couldn't find it. That would be a cool retro-clone.

The only 1911 copies (not 1911A1), I've seen were made by Colt about 20 years ago.

Since I'm not much of a 1911 guy, I use the term in the loosest, most general way possible. I had a GI 1911 made by Armscor in the Phillipines for High Standard https://gunsgunsguns.net/high-standard-gi-1911/ , but its modified ejection port probably keeps it from being a copy. To its credit, it has very crappy sights. G.T. gets to enjoy it now!

More old pics and history
A local historian keeps posting pics on Facebook. And here's a link to the company's historical info, including its timeline up to its demise around here: https://tincanbandit.blogspot.com/20...thaca-gun.html
