Here are some pictures of my artillery. It is an Erfurt that looks like someone took a frame, barrel, and extension and then tried to see how many different numbers of parts they could use for assembling a complete gun.

The right side of the barrel extension has "Germany" stamped on it. The left side has a crown over an L and the stop below the chamber has a circled "N". To the left of the stop is an "O" and to the right is an "R"

The bottom of the barrel is stamped 8.83 which I assume is the bore size. There is also a crown over "N". The witness marks appear to indicate the barrel has not been changed.

The left side of the frame behind the trigger pivot has an "F" in the same size as the serial number and under the side plate area is an "L" about 2/3 as large.

The middle toggle link has an Erfurt crown. It is not broken but I do not know if it is the thick or thin version. To the right of the crown is a small crown over "RC" and to the left is a crown over a Gothic letter.

One interesting thing to me is that the side plate is stamped 57 on the outside and 19 on the inside.

All in all it is a very mixed up pistol!

Steve,

Does your artillery have a "19" stamped on the frame just above & to the right of the trigger? I have two Erfurts that have a two digit # different from the serial # stamped on the inside of the sideplate and on the frame above and to the right of the trigger. The number is hidden when the sideplate is on the gun. [img]confused.gif[/img]

There is no "19" on the frame but since the sideplate does not match anything else on the gun that is not surprising. There are no numbers in that area of the frame. Only the two marks descrbed above.

All the parts show a consistant amount of wear so all these mismatched parts are about the same age if looks are an indication. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

There are not numbers in that position on my Erfurt LP08, either. There is, however, an upper-case letter K on the frame, thusly:

Is this the position you are talking about?

Also, there are no numbers on the inside of my sideplate. There are, however, letters stammped there, an E and an H, in different places, in the same size and style as the K.

Do I remember correctly that there are Crown/N proofs on your barrel and receiver/rails?

This is what I'm talking about: These are standard Erfurts, not LP-08's.

Where Dwight has a "K" on his frame, mine has an "L". I am assuming that my artillery is a commercial model given the lack of military stamps and no chamber date. The serial number is also outside of the ranges given in the e-book on Luger manufactures.
