Universal 22 shooter...

Again it,s not about Lugers today. Just wanted to share with the gun lovers...

After some research I have discovered that a few guns function with all the 22: short, long, LR. And even fewer in semiautomatic.
Typically tube magazine fed, pump, lever or semi rifles are your limited choices.
Revolvers are boring to me from mechanical prospective.

So having played with my Astra, I decided to make my RIA 1911 with a 22 conversion kit to reliably feed, cycle and shoot .22 short.

I had an extra follower I had made for Astra magazine, so I used it on a 22 LR magazine of the kit, made a new spring( didn’t have to- but it,s rectangular, and better than the round one, filling up all the space) and made a spacer filler /ramp from a coat hanger plastic.

Well. The gun works beautifully with the cci 22 short, 29 gr, 1080f/s. With one magazine and 22 LR with another( yes I will clean the carbon ring in the chamber after the shorts.)

I'm a bit confused...You took a .45 cal 1911 clone and made it shoot .22 short???

.Yep, i feed 3 of 22 shorts in the 45 chamber at once , and it shoots them like a shotgun spitting out 3 tiny shells lol
