Andy,
You are correct. The marking would seem inconsistent. If they were going to use a Fraktur Eszett, then one would think they would also use a long Fraktur s. I got stuck on the Eszett in Russland and forgot about the others. Profuse apologies

To repeat myself, the exposed logo ОГЪНЪ indicates the safety lever position for FIRE in the Bulgarian spelling; the Russian spelling would be ОГОНЬ. There is no way for a native speaker of Russian or Bulgarian to get confused about this matter. The following Wikipedia pages explain the roles of the hard and soft signs in Cyrillic alphabets:

Michael, not sure how that applies here? (And I don't think you can 'repeat' yourself, when it is a totally different forum... )

It is unlikely that they had native speakers at DWM?

And the newer Mauser made, did they consult or did they simply copy the previous mistakes, as Herb said?

Well, the commemoratives were made to commemorate classic versions of the pistol, so it was completely logical to copy as much details of those originals as possible. So yes, they copied the inscription of the original pistols.

Gerben,
Thank you for stirring the pot so that I don't have to!

Yes, there are LP08, Navy and Carbine commemoratives that I know of.

Ok, it is a bit of self promotion, but if you are into commemorative Mausers you really should take a look at our new book on the post war Parabellum:

'The Parabellum Is Back! 1945-2000', available through Brad Simpson Publishing Ltd. or through the web site www.theparabellumisback.com

The best commemorative is the one with the mistake: '75 Jahre MAUSER Parabellum'
This version was pulled from the market after they found out that Mauser really hadn't produced any between 1900 and 1930....

To pre-order the book here in the USA, go to:

https://www.simpsonltd.com/ParabellumIsBackPreOrder.pdf

PS: We just picked up a Russian Interarms Luger this weekend with the box & case.

Seems to work for me.

Others have had problems, so we are working on it.

Hi Brad, With all due respect to your IT guy, your form contains no prices for the books. I can't believe this is just a Mac problem. Regards, Norm

Norm,
I can see the prices just fine on the .pdf form. The problem I had is that after I filled in the form to order the book, I could not submit it by email using the "hot button" on the form. I ended up phoning in my order. I think it may be a problem between my email app, Eudora, and my ISP.

If you can pull up the form, the prices are on it. It is a .pdf so there is no way the prices can be removed.

Hi Brad, Here's the form I get, as you can see - no prices! It's no big deal, I'll call your store and order the book. Regards, Norm
