RK,
the side plate looks like the gun might have a light pitting problem on it. Pitting always worries me. The locking bolt looks rounded like an amatuer did some restrawing. Its supposed to be flat with champhered edges. I can't remember if the bore quality was mentioned. Replacement grips. Original mag, but that doesn't matter on a range gun.
Not a collector, tough year to get, but maybe at a tad over a thou, it might be a good gun for the range. Sent your limits at a little over a thou and stick to it or wait for the more common years of 1916 or 1917 with British proofs and try for better quality for the same money.

Red face

RK,
I took another look at the gun. Maybe I concentrated too much on the grips, side plate and the locking bolt. The guy said that the barrel was clean. The 209 serial number along side the side plate looks OK (not buffed). The toggle top appears OK. Only two proof marks. Hard to tell much more from the photographs. The pitting might be restricted to the side plate. More photos are needed. Say, the proof marks, serial numbers on the front of the receiver and on the barrel, the straps and the barrel itself. This will tell you if the gun has been reblued and if there is more pitting.
