Smile Erfurt acquisition

When I started playing this game I didn't think I was interested in LP08s.

Now I have two.

Just picked up my long-awaited 1914 Erfurt Artillery. Its fairly in the lower part of 90-95%, probably 40% straw, honest-to-pete mirror bore. All matching including grips (mismatch mag), proof stamps all over the place including grip screws. Its a pretty nice piece, just have to brag on it a little. I'll do some serious photography soon.

I've read a lot of commentary about Erfurt quality being lower than DWM, comparing this gun to my 1917 DWM reveals no significant difference in quality of manufacture.

The guy I got it from showed me a 1923 Commercial Artillery he just picked up, Safe/Loaded, 5-numeral serial#. Unfortunately it was restored, but it was a Gale Morgan restoration and very gorgeous. I expect to see it for sale on his gun show table in a month, probably pricier than I can even think about.

Dwight, brag with your head up and proudly, you have a right to. Congratulations. Photos anxiously anticipated. My understanding reference the Erfurts was the 1917 & 1918s suffered more from the machining and finish then earlier models.

I too like Erfurts, but my arty erfurt was buffed and shiny blued, so I don't have much to compare it on!

Can't wait to see pictures, Congrats!

Dwight, congratulations and I am also anxious to see your pictures.

As for quality of manufacture, my two 1914 Erfurt Artillery models are not quite up to DWM finish standards but are not THAT much off. It was the later production, 1918 in particular, that showed the degradation of the finish.

I think you're going to love it!
