Here is one of my favorite Lugers I have restored. Dont have any BEFORE pictures.

Thanks, yes, rust blued with strawed and fire blued small parts. I also do the internal polish like the originals were done and the "rainbow" straw colors on top of he hold open device. Ron Wood once posted I had the DWM Rust blued colored "nailed". I sure enjoy doing this work,

Beautiful work, which is the norm for you. In looking at the 3rd Variation Mauser K Date Luger, why did you "paint" the stamping? Is it the way it was done originally or was it a request of the owner? Just curious.

It is ALWAYS a request of the client, I never do it unless they ask for it or if I own the Luger. They used to request my mark on them but I dont do much of that anymore, just keep a list of Lugers, Broomhandles, P38s, PPKs etc that I have worked on.

Then was the "Gesichert" painted on some originally or is that also an owner option?

The safeties were always painted in by the factories. Early DWM, Erfurt, Simson were painted in a tan yellow color. Mausers used an off white color. I try to duplicate these in my restorations.

Do you use or can you recommend a commercially available rust blue solution? I'm doing a CZ 527 mini mauser project right now and I'm not entirely pleased with the color I'm getting from what I bought.

As always, your restorations look pretty damn good
