I wondered that too. The damage was in spots localized like a liquid drop of something did it. If it was from holster tanning chemicals I would expect it to be at all contact spots. Maybe the experts will know.

You're right Eric, I even recommended him to people that in another two gun-forums asked where to have their M1911s refinished, I know that Turnbull is quite famous, but Ted's work is fantastic I think.
