where to sell?

I would like your advice on the best place to sell lugers so they get the right visibility ?

That depends upon what type of Luger you are selling.

Pieced-together shooter?
One of a kind collector pistol?
Fake?
Nice original?
Restored?
Doggy piece of crap?

Different place for each.

If you want to set a price and sell your Luger at that amount, then GunsAmerica or this site is the place to advertise. Of course, negotiation with the buyer always remains open to you. If you want to chance the outcome of an auction, then GunBroker or Auction Arms are options.

If you have a high end gun and can afford to wait about 4 months for your money, Rock Island Auctions has an excellent track record for getting big bucks.

Gun Broker's primary benefit for the seller is this squirly fifteen minute rule they have. You never know what gun is going to spark the imagination of two bidders, or three. Once that happens, look out.

There have been auctions over the course of the past several months that have ended with a flurry of after hours bidding, sometimes as many as 35-40 bids, with prices as much as 40% more than what any of us would be inclined to pay. This is especially the case for Artilleries. I was the winning bidder, on behalf of a computer illiterate friend, who has seen my two artilleries, one mismatched Erfurt (recently reblued by Thor) and wanted one of his own. When a mismatched Erfurt Artillery came up for bid, I tried to get it for him. I had it at one point for $900, and then for $1,000. Each time, the fifteen minute rule kicked in. By the time the bidding stopped, he got the Erfurt for $1,400 and the DWM Artillery went for very close to that. So, a desirable piece put up up at the right time can definitely fetch the seller an excellent price. What this does for the rest of us is debatable, however.

Lately both Gun Broker and Auction Arms have had fewer good items up; good quality, affordable P08's are nearly extinct on both sites. It is either high end Persian artillery rigs, or beat up pieces for which shooter would be a compliment. If you have something in the way of a respectable shooter, I would suspect you'd do quite well on Gun Broker.
