Help What do I have

Hello to everyone, this is my first post, need help identifing this toy, I wont be able to post pics right now, but I will give best description I can. I have never done so much research & been so confused but here goes Its a DWM,ser#43528, B G U proofs w/crown & #118,35 under barrel, 9mm, no grip safety, no stock lug,thumb safety rear position GESICHERT, does not appear to have hold open, extractor says LOADED,all #'s match except mag is a FXO black base, #'s are on all major parts but kinda hidden on side plate on bottom etc, under grip on l. side X is stamped twice (2 directions) the letters L G P H Z & to others I cant read, r. grip only J, toggle knob is round & knurled I hope this is enough for a start, I will try & post pics as soon as I can walk & sun comes out thanks in advance, my hat is off to yall, there are a bunch of different types of LUGERS, I usually mess with 1911's, now I know why, but I have learned alot

Welcome to the forum.
From your description you probably have a Model 1908 Commercial, an interesting and desirable variation (as far I know). The serial number range and BUG roofs are the giveaways. The letters you mentioned are probably factory inspectors marks and their meaning is lost.
Pictures will surely help to a more precise assessment about condition and value.

Extractor says 'Loaded'???

yes the extractor say's loaded, thats part of what is confusing me. I was looking somewhere on this forum & from what I could tell, if safety was in German so should the extractor.not 1 in German & 1 in english. Should this model have hold open on last shot ?I thought it was a commercial model after I did a bunch of reading, but wasnt sure, Thanks for all the help

I think it's safe to say that you've managed to confuse others as well...

Pictures are everything; please post them asap.

Just off the top of my head, I would say you have at least one mismatched part [extractor]. Does your pistol say 'Germany' anywhere on it???

"#118,35 under barrel" is somewhat confusing...Too many numbers for a land dimension; wrong number for a matching serial...I'm guessing it is the barrel serial number, but for a different pistol...

The earliest Lugers sometimes had the bore designated with a longer number.

I found referance to #118,35 & B U G, at technical info,markings,proof marks, proof #1, #2. Does not have Germany anywhere, i'm looking for cord to connect camera to computer now, I know pics will help alot thanks

no sir not tryin to rub ur nose in it,just happened to write down where I had found it, found cord for camera now gonna try & attach pics but of corse I didnt write down where I had seen a step by step tutor on how to attach pics, but gonna try not having any luck on pics, still trying, assoon as I figure it out I will post, they arent very good, weather here is bad (south of Houston) but better than nothing sorta

all the delay but I have never done anything like this before, untill monday I didnt ever know how to take down a Luger, never tried but thanks to this forum learning lots of good info

I would like to see the markings and the complete barrel (underside and full left and right).

its a commercial before the stock lugs, so before 1913, but after the 1906 models.

Its caliber may be 7.65mm instead of 9mm...

the pics are just like my Luger, under barrel identical to mine except for serial #, the buddy I got the pistol from said his boys had shot it but he never had, I did the pencil test & pencil was sloppy, so is that 9mm ? I know pics are terrible but can yall give a ballpark value ?should it lock open because it doesnt, all the info is greatly appreciated Howard

It might be a rarer variation to some (pre-WW1 commercial) but to me it is worth around $650-$800 because of condition of the finish.

the high end is twice what I got in it, so I did pretty good, what yr do you think it was made & should it hold open ? cant say it enough but thanks to all for all the info, would it be worth restoring, if not would it be okay to shoot, or would it be taking too much of a chance of breaking something again thanks
