Portland, OR Gun Show Report
The Portland Gun Show continues to maintain just enough Luger interest to not be discounted completely. Some regular attendees are still mia, there was a distressing number of empty tables, the crowd fell off drastically in the afternoon (it was pretty sunny and warm outside, this is Oregon, remember...)...
Table population included: the usual 1900AE $1.6k table queen Alphabet Commercial l block .30cal., OK shape, $695 1906AE, Gesichert stamped safety marking, BUG proofs, $2.7k. The proofs were soft and shallow, it looked to me like a very old & well-done refinish although the owner swore it wasn't. The gun also supposedly had provenance, anthough the story wasn't entirely clear to me. Jerry Kramer brought some of his Lugers this time: 1906 Swiss cross-in-shield DWM, $3,495 1906 Swiss cross-in-sunburst DWM, $3,295 1906 Waffenfabrik Bern, $3,495 M2 Portuguese, $2,295 Commercial Artillery, $2,850 Interarms Mauser cutaway, $1,995 Alphabet Commercial i block .30cal., OK shape, $695 Several walk-ins ended up on tables: Alphabet commercial .30, $500 Bread-and-butter WWI Luger which sold before I had the chance to examine it Rather nice 1912 Erfurt (no stock lug) unit marked, which unfortunately had been rebarrelled with a commercial Artillery barrel, $900 One walk-in which walked back out, a 10-inch barrel Wyatt .45 cal. conversion--I wanted it, but the $1.2k ask price was too steep for my pocket. I heard tell of other walk-ins, but never saw them. --Dwight |

Dwight, nice report, I enjoy reading these!
The Wyatt, I would love to have one of those, to actually shoot and have fun. Ralph had one two years ago, for 2K, I thought the price was high (for me), but if I'd had two thousand... So, the $1,200 sounds not bad, Ed
