Default What's the lowest priced Luger?

I'm seeing some mighty high prices on clunker Lugers lately, so I am now wondering what is the lowest price a FUNCTIONAL Luger would sell for? Let's assume the parts are a total mismatch, the finish is zero or a poor reblue, the bore is shot out, the grips are junky plastic replacements (possibly cracked and/or chipped), and with an aftermarket mag. But it has all its parts and is in working order. If 9mm, my guess would be around $250, and if 7.65mm, I would drop it to $200. Anyone think I.m off base?

Aaron:

Look at the prices received for parts on Ebay, then rethink $500-600

I have been looking for a while, and Ken is pretty right on. I have not seen a Luger of any kind for less than $400 for a long while! Could be wrong. But if i did, I would buy it. The best prices i have seen, have been right here on this forum. $200??? I don't think so! Hell, I just saw a non shooting TOY Luger go for almost that much on this site. Keep your eyes on, maybe you will get lucky. Thanks, And good luck. Sean.....

Well, Aaron has been buying and collecting for many years, one day I'll see his collection

Aaron, I would guess that $350-$400 beater 9mm and maybe less if pitted, maybe $350 pitted but functional run of the mill? A 7.65mm, I would say probably $50-$75 less...

Anything just mismatched, is over $550 and closer to $650, but I have noticed that ones more than that that are reblued / mismatched run of the mill, do not sell on the forums..

Well gentlemen, perhaps my guess is way off because unless a Luger is in excellent condition (preferably outstanding with 2 matching mags, etc., etc.,) I just keep walking and don't even ask the price. I'll have to start paying attention to the lower levels of Lugerology just to keep an up to date perspective. Thanks for wising me up.............

All of the real beaters are being broke up for parts thus reducing the number of complete guns raising the price of the low end survivors.

Aaron,
I,m also in Calif. and the prices I see in gun shops
are mininum $600-$650 for Lugers in real bad shape.
On the forums you get a decent shooter for $650.

A certain Luger dealer has been buying 45-70 doggy, worn lugers at gun shows for years. That is 45-70 guns per show; for many, many years. Figure 20-35 shows per year.

Some of you may have even sold him some of your old lugers that no one else wanted.

Nothing but mint and near mint stuff comes out the other end of his business.

No wonder beater, shooter lugers are becoming scare and more costly.

Aaron,

I can put together one similar to what you describe from parts on hand, but with a shootable bore. I wouldn't sell it for less than $450 plus shipping. The parts sold seperately on ebay would probably bring more!

I vehemently deny that any of my posts cast even the slightest aspersion upon those who find fulfillment in acquiring Lugers of less than perfect quality. I merely admitted to both a lack of interest and a degree of ignorance concerning such imperfect weapons. I suggest you peruse my writings more carefully and hope you will conclude that as one military officer to another, an apology on your part is in order. Should you decline, I will have no choice but to demand satisfaction upon the field of honor, and my seconds will call upon you forthwith. I daresay as the challenged party you will choose Lugers at thirty paces, and it is my sincere belief that since your weapon of choice will undoubtedly be a a deactivated British P08, I strongly suggest that you pay great heed to my insistence upon a redress of my grievance.

I remain respectfully yours and await your reply..........

I would be very interested in one that you made up from parts on hand. I also have a new 6" barrel if that wouldn't be to much of a problem.

Pipeman, I can install your new barrel for around $100 + return Fed Ex. Tac if you win the duel, you may end up with a nice luger. Th

Thank you for the kind offer. But at the moment I have no spare Luger to install it on. Now if Hugh could find it in his heart to send me one for Christmas.

Pipeman & C3006, let me see if I can dig up enough old rusty parts to make up a couple of junky shooters. Don't know when I can get to them tho, I'm snowed under with grip checkering, and it is the 2nd week of deer season--for all the good that has done me! Did get a wild hog opening morning tho.
