Luger sights?

Okay, I have picked up a number of front sights over the last few years, and curious to what others think they are?

#1 container said P38
#2 container said 1914
#3 look new made

the rest

others look like possible marbles type - someone said carbine or carbine type (rifle?)

Group 1, second from the right side, appears like something for a K98 rifle. I need a tall front sight blade for my Navy shooter, and learned that the groove size is common to Euro. guns. I still need a tall front sight blade if any of them are available.

I think they are what you say.
VI is probably for the K98 or similar.

K98 sights are available online from the big guys and cheaper than luger sights, and they do fit the dovetail, just need the "wings" cliped to fit!

Well, sometimes you need to do a little needle file work on any dovetail sight to get it to fit well.

The one you circled is similar to one I bought from Sarco and was called a "K98 tall sight". Sometime send me a photo of your tallest sights and hopefully we can find one taller than what I have because even with that K98 tall sight, my Navy still prints high.
And I'll measure what I have.

I put a type IV on a 22LR Luger I have that was missing the front sight. It fit fine.

David, If you mean an Erma .22 "Luger," I have NOS front sights available for all toggle pistol models, if you wish to maintain original parts on it!

It has been a long and fruitless search for, "just a little taller" Luger front sight blades and / or an alternate type that you can fit without owning a machine shop!

... Variances in dovetail widths and heights, (on both parts) don't help the search much either?...
I have found that, blades for artillery and Navy Lugers are a bit taller than standard, but much pricier as well... doesn't help the shooter much unless you can rob one off of another unit or parts gun, accumulated along your journey...
Mauser K98 sights are too low... and if you use a custom blade from Brownells, you have to completely profile and shape with the tools at hand... small flat file and small three corner file as well... And, it is a time consuming task..
The easiest sight to reshape and might just have the height you need is a #4 P.38 sight... I just recently did one of these for a GTS/T-4 barrel and the results were encouraging... All I did was file both sides so to end up with a sharp point... more sharp then the Luger was originally...
Marbles used to make a #27 gold bead sheared blade, but they were pretty low as I remember?...
That's the limit of what I know so far! And the search continues... Best to all, til...lat'r....GT....

This sight is tall, and works fine as set up.
GT sent it to me, he can confirm- but I think it came from Brownell's.

Hi Don, yes! That is the Mauser custom blade from Brownells.... It works out well for you as you have the adj. rear sight mounted on the rear toggle... You would need to lower it some, and profile and shape correctly for a Luger rear sight... But, the main problem with that particular sight is the cost $25.00 each!!!

... That is more then I usually make on most of my barrel projects...

) also, once cut for the Mauser blade.. there is no going back... Neat shooter Don, you need to print that baby on paper and see what you can hold for a group... Inqusitive minds want to know! best to all, til...lat'r...GT....

Well, now I really have no excuse not to fire for group. I have had both eyes "fixed" - i.e. cataracts removed and plastic lenses installed!

Now I can actually see the sights and the target at the same time.

My six inch is just too heavy, so it's finicky

Yes, 5"; works fine- but your 6" probably pushes it over the edge.

The numbers below show the weights of the bull barrels vs the "std" navy and artillery. As you can see the 5" is close to the artillery, but the 6" bull is about 2 oz. heavier-therein the problem lies.
4" bull- 6.7
5" bull- 8.4
6" bull- 10.0

std 4"- 3.8
Navy 6"- 5.3
Art 8" - 7.7

Some of these are actual weights, the 4" and 6" bull are calculated from my 5" weight.

Ed-
I could take a couple ounces off your 6" by "thinning" the sides!
Kind of make a "thin bull".

Lifer- I have a 1913 DWM converted to 22LR, #1057. The barrel is sleeved and the breechblock cut back to the shorter length, with a 22LR seating cut. Then the firing pin was cut flat with a pin drilled and side mounted to it with a whole side cut. But it still needs to have the bottom of the breechblock machined, as in a 22 conversion kit, so it will feed rounds off a conversion kit 22LR mag. As it is it is single shot.
