Default Mauser P38 slide restoration

I have a Mauser 1944 P38 slide that is parkerized and the former vet I bought it from has lightly scratched his ssn into the lower left side of the slide, below the maker markings, and serial number. While I normally don't restore firearms, this really bothers me and I was wondering if there are any restoration experts that the board members can recommend. Basically buff out the ssn and repark the slide the right color. the rest of the pistol is dual tone.

thanks
David

I know sheepherder does Parkerizing, at least for his AR-15 projects. Ted Green (THOR) would be a go-to for surface prep and metal refinishing...

Parkerizing is heat-intensive. As it is 140º F in my computer room right now, I would not even contemplate any Parkerizing until Winter.

Ithacadave has a thread about a Central New York shop that does re-finishing.
