Really Good (And I Mean REALLY GOOD) Replacement Grips Needed

About two years ago my elderly neighbor passed away. About a month after his widow came over with a box and said "Bud want you to have this.". Long story short. In the box was an all matching 1936 S/42 P.08 with two matching magazines in 98% condition. Also in the box was an excellent condition 1936 dated holster with tool. Since Bud was stationed in England with the 8th Air Force and spent the war loading bombs into B24's I have no idea were he got the Luger. But worst than not having a story to go with the pistol was the fact that it was wearing mother of pearl grips when I open the box. I thought maybe the original grip were in the box. No such luck. Over the past two year I have spent a lot of time and effort and not a little money trying to get grips for this pistol. I have gone through about a dozen sets of grips. Some used originals; some new reproductions. All have been "functional" but all have fit like a $2.00 suit! Were can I purchase or have fitted or have made a set of grip that will do justice to this pistol?

Doug, it must have been a while since you've perused the forum! Jim Solomon is one of the current Wizards of the Walnut Grip. Hugh Clark (Hugh) may also take in work, but I think he's generally busy on the Colt forum. I bought a classic design main spring tool from Jim Solomon. His work is excellent! I would have to believe his grips are of equally high quality.

You can't go wrong with Jim's grips. He made me a wonderful set to my exact specs, even including non-traditional ornamentation. Normal Luger grips are a bit thin, so he made my grips thicker by my request, and they fit my hand very nicely. I wanted Rosewood instead of the usual Walnut - Jim came through!

His checkering alone is a work of art - when I had a pair of non-Luger grips I wanted checkered, I sent 'em to Jim. They came back drop dead gorgeous! I can NOT say enough good about Jim's workmanship and attention to detail. Top notch in my book.
