Default Long Luger served in German Army at WW II

Hi Sir/Madam,

I am Military Modeller. Recently, I discuss with my friend about Long Luger. He claimed it issued to second unit at WW II. I realised the long Luger issued to German Army at WW II.

Anyboby Help to answer my question!

Best regards,

Default Wing, welcome to the Luger forum

I am sorry but I am not sure I understand what is your question.

Long Lugers (artillery model) were manufactured and issued primarily during World War I.

I own one of these that was manufactured by the Erfurt Arsenal during 1914 as you see in the photo...

Some of this model may have still been in use by German forces during World War II, but I have no personal knowledge of this model being officially issued during this war.

Perhaps some others may be able to help answer your inquiry.

Wing & John,

First off, welcome to the Luger forum Wing; glad to have you. John is correct that the Artillery Luger (long) was primarily a WWI pistol, but I have read and seen photos of the motorcycle dispatch riders carrying this pistol in a holster on their belt. The normal carry in WWI was a strap attached to the holster and over the shoulder.

I have an Artillery model with a holster that was brought back from WWII. I don't have any documentation, so I can't say for sure it was used in WWII, but the chance may be there. For Modeling, I would use it for WWI only.
