AGE; Pardon me if I looked at something wrong, but are you saying the gun has a two-digit ONLY serial number, with no four-digit number anywhere? This has nothing to do with the '42' on the chamber top. In other words, you can see John D's Luger with the four-digit serial number on the left side of the barrel extension, and the last two digits of the four-digit number on other parts. If yours has only a two-digit serial number, it means it was from the first 99 guns in the 'k' block. They didn't put zeroes in front of low numbers. I'm no expert, but I chimed in because I thought you were asking about a two-digit serial number.

Saxman,

Yup, the gun has a 2 digit serial number, no 4 digit number anywhere including the front of the frame. The 42 is over the chamber and the byf on the toggle.

COME ON GUYS--WHAT'S MY PROBLEM POSTING PICTURES?

AGE, you have to drop the link into the area that says IMG, I changed the previous picture to display. It was just missing the http:// part.

The entire thing you would need to post would be

http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/picture.jpg into the IMG area, all of it has to go there.

Ed, this is hopeless. Start from the beginning in baby steps. Tell me when to right click, left click, bow down, kneel, or whatever.

dang.....

sorry, posted everything and it didn't go!!!!

AGE, if you have one picture, then the easiest thing to do is to ADD REPLY and then choose ATTACH FILE this will allow you to post one picture at a time.

You click on browse, then pick the picture (less than 200 kb's), then it will AUTO upload...

Somehow you got some left side views in. I'll try a right side:

You had it all right, except that there were Two sets of http://

for whatever reason it always includes that when you post and you must make sure it has just one set.

Al.....

You and Tom are killing me here....

Also - when the pop-up comes you for the image HTTP - it's hightlighed, so if you just PASTE the URL (the thingy it tells you to COPY after the upload) - it automatically deletes the first HTTP://

OK - next time - send me your Luger and computer - and I'll post it for you. When I'm done - I'll send back your computer....

John D,

I'm shipping them tomorrow. Watch your mailbox carefully, wouldn't want them to get lost. (hehehehe)

Hey Al,
* Think you better count your fingers. John D.'s just fixen to lightened your Luger inventory if I read his post correctly. Not a bad stipend for picture posting.
Respectfully,
Bob

Hey Ed,

Thanks for your help. When I go through the post picture routine, after uploading the link goes away so fast that I had a hard time copying. Then after I messed around with the IMG stuff I evidently always screwed it up.
I need to do more of this but my scanned pictures are pretty crappy and hardly worth fooling with. I could buy a good camera but I would rather buy a gun or ammo. I have a good 35 mm camera bought right before the digital ones became hot so I am slow to junk it.

RockinWR,

Yes I figured out what John D. had in mind, maybe he'll spend a few days out in the snow watching his mailbox (in vain).

hmmmmm.

Well, the upload link doesn't go away unless you "click" something, at least I don't think it does?

The attach photo is your best bet, it will just DO IT for you. Try once?

DON'T use the Quick Reply, use the ADD REPLY and upload by using the attach a photo.

much easier for those with, uh trouble posting ...

Ed,

I did what you said. There is no option to attach photo in my menu. The attach file option thinks my files are too big and doesn't work. The IMG option may be what you are talking about, I'll try it again a little later and see if I can post something. Busy now, just got my 1911 slide back from Hugh after repairs. Gotta go put it together and head for the range after lunch. Never miss lunch, some things are important.

If the file is over 200 bilobytes, then yes, it won't post;

I am guessing you followed this?

Here is an exercise you can try:

Take one of the smaller images I made of your gun, Right Click, Copy, then Paste it on your desktop.

Then follow these directions and upload.

Maybe I'll mess with it later. A reeeaaalll pain. What did you guys do before computers? Oh I forgot, I'm about the only albatross here. You guys were born with laptops (maybe even mouses??mice). You know we got along somehow for the last few thousand years without them.

While you were messing around with this stuff I went shooting. Put 50 rounds of WallyMart 9 mm Winchester through the gun with no malfunctions. The first 10 rounds gave a 2" group about 2" high and 2" to the left. The next 40 rounds opened the group up to 3". Lousy indoor lighting or I could do better.
