Post For sale board donations

Just a thought, but I sometimes frequent the DOUBLE GUN BBS. They have a voulantary $10 donation to the forum host for every gun bought or sold on the forum. I know that John D. has never asked for any compensation, but I think that it would be acceptable to most everyone on the board? Opinions?

Sounds very reasonable to me. This site has been a great value to me as a Luger owner, and without advertizing banners and SPAM. KFS

It is a good idea to me, althought John would rather see a Kreighoff in his Christmas Stocking,

Thumbs up

i think a better idea is for the the forum to get a cuople of the bigger dealers to sponser the site. they are ultimately the ones that win financially and this way they can openly advertise their products and be called to the carpet when anything funny happens. between shattuck, simpson, sarco, collectors, ima, FGS, and others it would seem that enough funds could be generated to support the forum. they are already benifitting from the listings, perhaps it's time they helped here. or maybe the forum could just sell them advertising banner space.

Hey Guys, This is all stuff John doesn't want to do...For his own reasons John D. has chosen to be the sole sponsor of the site. I know this is unusual in America but sit back and enjoy. Don't try to fix something that isn't broken. Jerry Burney

Amen to that Jerry. As the saying goes, the best things in life are free (at least to us users, it isn't free to John D.) so let's keep it that way and be thankful for it.

Donations would not be tax-free and John would have to declare them to the IRS. This would probably be more trouble than benefit.
I will be forever grateful for John's generosity and largeness of spirit.

It ain't broke, don't fix it. Not such a good idea, could open a can of worms. I think it would be best to leave a good thing alone. If John D. wants a change I'm sure he'll let us know what he has in mind

I concur with the "ain't broke...don't fix it" philosophy... Just enjoy John D. generosity... this is one of very few sites that I frequent that doesn't throw ads in my face and I like it that way...

We Are Invited Guests In John D's Private Room.
>>
Lets All Respect His Hospitality and do not treat his House with Disrespect.
>>
If He Feels Uncomfortable with certain ways that some have in expressing themselves, Then So Be It!
It Then Behoves US to Respect His Comfort Zone !
>>
Its a Small Request that He wants US to act like the Gentlemen That He Invited in .
>>
If We Cannot Honor This Then We are Not the Ones to Whom the Invitation is open to . And it lays to reason THAT HE IS BETTER OFF WITHOUT !!
>>
So lets All Honor his House and remain welcome GUESTS !

Wow...!!!

OK - I'm a little late in reading all the Forums - but I just wanted to say Thank you for the comments, thoughts and posts. At a personal level, I really enjoy hosting this site, as Lugers are the only firearm I have ever seriously have had an interest in - so this Forum is merely an extension of that enthusiasm...

At the same time - I also have to say that I couldn't - or wouldn't! - do this without the support of Dok, John S., and all the Forum Moderators - they are the ones who keep all this on track...

And finally - my thanks to each of of you. Those of you who stop by on a regular basis and share your knowledge, thoughts, comments and support. It is each one of you who have made this small space in the Internet your community. And that is to each of your credit - certainly not mine...!!!
