Numrich/Gun Parts Corporation stocks early Luger springs, $ 24.10, part # 466330. I removed the little metal thing, the spring tension still feels right.

Balder, I'd be surprised if GPC still has any of these early type recoil springs. Also the M1900 has a thin grip safety spring just aft of the recoil spring. Could this be what you're looking at? TH

It is in their catalog # 24 which I bought last year. And no, I am not looking at the grip safety spring - which is not in the catalog

I was successful in contacting the gentleman at Springfield Armory in late February, however he was unable to find his reference for the 5800-7800 serial number range but said he would continue looking. He is not in the office on Wednesday or Thursday, so I will attempt to contact him again tomorrow and see if he was able to locate a source for the serial number range. From our discussions the last time I talked to him, I do not expect he will have any new information this time.

I was able to get in contact with the guy at Springfield on Friday. He had looked for his reference but couldn't find it initially and then kind of forgot about it. He told me Friday that he would continue looking, but things are a little disorganized right now so he may or may not be able to locate the source of his information. He thought that perhaps someone had told him the range and he accepted it because the individual is considered an authority. He gave me a couple of names, so I will check with them and see if I can verify anything. The hunt continues. I intend to stick with it until I find out something or absolutely hit a dead end.

I really enjoy dropping by this site from time to time, I've learned a lot about Lugers since I started coming here - thanks all! I still haven't decided whether to reline or replace the drilled barrel, but I understand that my Luger, being a test piece or not, originally came with an unblued magazine with a wooden plug. I want to keep it as original as possible, so I am looking for one of those mags. Does anybody have a spare one for sale? I have several Luger mags, all blued but from different makers, maybe a swap would be of interest?

I am reviving an old thread to see if anybody (Ron especially) actually heard anything from Springfield regarding the serial number range of the US test Lugers. I am in the process of writing an article on these for a Norwegian publication and I'd like to keep it as up-to-date as possible.

Hi eric, esq, here, I recently purchased a documented 1900 test gun, It has a serial number 6786, and no import/germany, marking, I expect to acquire a valid US Test Holster, and will submit any photo, just send me an email at, "snookem13@aol". I hope to post photograph with the help of a forum members, I want to personally thank ED AND RON, for helping me with their invaluable advice, oh, also 'Dwight, for his support and helping Me to be proud!

Congratulations on your test Luger, I look forward to seeing pictures of it. The original holster is even rarer than the gun itself, please post pictures of that as well.
