Default Norm's Rareties, #2.

For many Navy Luger collectors the search for a Navy stock, preferably an issued stock that has seen service and has a unit marked disc, becomes a quest that lasts years. So it was with me, until I was offered one by a fellow forum member who took such cruel advantage of my need that I won't name him.
The unit mark on this one, M.A./699, is the only Minen Abteilung (Mine Division) marked stock I have ever recorded. The Minen Abteilung manned the small boats that swept mines, exceptionally hazardous duty, which might explain the rarity of M.A. marked equipment.

I like that, anything Navy for me is just about in the unobtanium category. I did get lucky once and picked up a 1940 Mauser Navy off of Auction Arms 12-13 years ago. Seller listed it as a 1940 Luger with engraving on the rear grip strap. It had been listed for just a few minutes with a ridiculously low buy it now. Took the chance and ended up with a Mauser Navy.

Isn't that what friends are for?
