1920 DWM commercial shoulder washboard wood stock

Hi new to the site and new to lugers

I purchased a 1920 commercial .30 DWM luger it came with a wood shoulder stock which the numbers don't match the luger but it is a 4 digit serial number with letter I on the bottom same as the luger is also matching number 4 digit serial number with letter I

I can't seem to find any commercial luger stocks online to compare. I know these could be purchased with the pistol thru the mail back then

My main question is what are these stocks worth or go for is there a site on line that shows the differences in these stocks

No sites on these. Perhaps Whitaker has some.

Show some pictures here.

It is generally felt that a four inch Luger is illegal to attach a stock and shoot with it. (Short barrel rifle from the 1930 something firearms act). So show stock not attached

Value, well one is being offered on another site for five hundred right now. Likely you have a war made stock for an eight inch Luger. Pictures of both would help.

To expand on Ed's post, there are specific models of the Luger (Artillery, Navy, Carbine) that go with specific stock attachments. The correct combination of a model of Luger and it's appropriate stock (original or reproduction) has been approved by the ATF as not being a "Short Barreled Rifle" which would be a NFA item.

If you have an incorrect combination (for example, a 4 inch Luger and any of the stocks) attaching them creates a NFA item that requires a special transfer stamp and Federal registration.

If the ATF is dealing with you in an aggressive manner, they can claim ownership of the wrong model Luger and shoulder stock is "Constructive Intent" which can be prosecuted as a violation of the Federal NFA laws and some state laws.

The purchase or sale of an incorrect combination could also be a violation.

So.... tread carefully, especially when you post things on the Internet. Never put together the wrong model Luger and shoulder stock in public.

If your commercial Luger is, in fact, a Luger Carbine you are fine - and have a rare and valuable firearm.
