Default Interarms proposed to sell pistols to Mauser

During our analysis and research for our book 'The Parabellum is Back 1945 - 2000', we found numerous documents that were quite interesting but we were unable to get all of them in.

One of those interesting documents is a letter from Interarms to Mauser from the 20th of January, 1981.

Herbert Spence, in charge of Interarms Manchester, wrote to Mauser explaining the following:

'...but the purpose of this letter is to briefly acquaint you with the details of our small remaining supply of very fine Parabellum 08 Pistols.

We have approximately 500 units in stock, all with matching numbers (except for the magazines) and all in Amerincan NRA very good or better original condition. Each pistol has two magazines, and all may be, of course, inspected here in Manchester. The pistols cover the total period of 08 production and contain good quantities of both W.W.I. and W.W.II models in all codes and factory markings. There are many Mauser Banner models and a few Krieghoffs, and one Simpson.

As Mr Cummings told you, we would be prepared to sell the entire lot at a straight through price of DM 1,000 each and accept a billing date of December 31, 1981, for payment...'

The sale didn't go through, but it did awaken the idea of reselling old Mauser pistols by the company itself, an idea that slumbered for years, but was finally introduced by selling refurbished P08 pistols by Mauser in 1997 and 1998.

Vlim,
Thanks for the info. Were any of the Mauser Refurbs imported and sold in the U.S.? They appear to be very, very nice pistols.
