Couldn't help it, guys. I shot the Mauser Parabellum (so did my daughter) last week, and fun it was. Perfect center-mass grouping at 20 yards with a 6 0'clock hold. The daughter (already an accomplished bullseye shooter), loved it too.

uh sure...

I have shooters and I have collector pieces, so you decide which is which and don't shoot the collector ones

The 6 inch barrel is the best one to shoot, very fun, although any luger is hard to beat.

Shooting collector pieces is still different from shooting "shooters". Shooting hi-grade original guns gives feeling about how DWM, or Mauser etc works. Shooting shooters actually tests how Waffenfabrik USA works.

There's a hell of a lot of "shooters" that came from germany, tens of thousands of them, chromed, mismatched, parts guns on purpose that were put together after the war and sold to the american market.

Not meaning to rant, but I get a bit tired of hearing about how waffenfabrik operates. There are folks in all countries faking up and making guns; it just so happens that there are a lot more lugers here in the USA to mess with.

The guns that I worry about are the "very" nice ones; guns 65-95 yrs old and have no patinia or age to them.

I don't understand. I would consider my VoPo's "shooters" but they were built and fitted by Germans. Does not compute. I'm not trying to be smart....but I really don't understand what you mean.

I agree VoPo being a collectable. Since this is a German gun, then German government rework should have a special position. Please note, what important on this VoPo was not "built and fitted by Germans", what important was "built and fitted by German government contractor". How to tell is an advanced topic.....

I`d like to know...
I like the military pistols. And the shorter barrel, 4 inch, is to me the right size. It`s more "real"...
If you can`t hit it with that, you are no shooter.
How do you people think? Standard barrel and track.

The 5 & 6 inch barrels have nice balance, but of course the standard is 4"... Nice to see you involve your child in the shooting sports... hopefully she won't be in trouble with her peers or at school (if she is still in school) if she discusses the experience in public.

I have always considered the postwar Lugers as shooters, especially when their value languished for years around the $300 mark. Now used ones are going for $900 and NIB ones for $1300. At those prices I don't think they're shooters any more.

Alvin, I am not trying to be difficult, but just because you feel this way, does not mean it is the only way to look at this, but you usually state things in very black and white and there is very little black in white in most of the world.
