Neil, I use a Nikon Coolpix 950 but that is a older camera by a couple of years. It only has 2.1 Megapixels max res and many of these newer ones are way better. I read some articles on pistols you have produced. Very nice work Neil! Thor

Hello Neil,

I happen to have two Kodaks, One is older, a 210, I have been very happy with it, then I needed a camera and bought a cheaper Kodak, takes good pictures, but not as good as the older camera. To get a good camera, expect to pay at least 300 dollars and that will be a much better camera than the 210 plus I have, since it is newer.

Of course as you play with it, you learn the best ways to make it nice.

Neil, I use a Sony Mavica model 73, as with Thor, it's a couple of years old. It uses 3 1/2" floppy discs. I have a tele & close focus lens, which are add on type lens. I'm very pleased with the performace, battery is rechargeable.

I bought a Sony Mavica at work, and love it. The main reason is that it uses floppy discs, and can be used with a computer without any adapters.

Thanks for the info. I've spent the last hour reading reviews on the net and believe I'll spend some time at a camera shop. From what I've read the Nikon Coolpix 995 looks close to what I'm looking for. But, it's probibly like buying a computor. Should buy the one they came out with the day after.

Thor, thanks for the kind words. Got a baby with a checkered front strap which will be the 1st for the forum.

Neil,

I've got a Coolpix 990, and it will do more than I have figured out how to do yet!

Default Casio...

Neil,

I went with a Casio QV series. It comes with 2.1 or 3.1 megapixels...

I opted for one with an IBM micro-drive that is a 1-1/2" square removable hard drive right in the side of the camera.

The drive holds 320 MB of data. At the camera's best resolution of 1600x1200, it can store 470 jpegs...

This capacity was important for the type of work and travel I do...

My price 2 years ago was $ 900 but I think they are down to $ 600 or so...

Default [OT] Digital Cameras - I use a Kodak DC4800

It is a 3.3 megapixel camera with 2X Optical Zoom and 3X digital zoom and can focus as close as 7 inches.

I have been very pleased with it. There are later models available.

Set at 2.1 megapixels, a single battery charge will take almost 100 photographs with flash and store it on a single 64MB memory card...

regards,

John Sabato

For most parts and many close-ups I find that my HP scanner makes outstanding pictures. High resolution scans of small areas or parts can provide far more detail than a digital camera.
