Landjaegerei?
Dear Experts---
I think I remember reading that WWI Lugers that were subsequently used in police service with the Prussian Landjaegerei (rural police) typically did not receive any specific police markings (proof or rework marks) added to them, except for the Schiwy safety. Is this accurate? Thanks, Jeff |

Sort of. The Prussian Landjägerei did not mark their weapons until the issue of the 1932 marking order. By that time, most of the older LP08s and P08s used by the Landjägerei since 1920 had been replaced by newly manufactured 29 DWMs. However, some of the LP08s were reworked into P08s and reissued to the Landjägerei in 1930 and were then marked. Also, there were probably a few older P08s that got marked in 1932. (HWIS Chapter 13; also http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=20449)
