Default 06/29 P78221 or Mauser Parabellum 10.0011

During a recent auction, this pistol was offered, completely misidentified for what it really was. Good for me

The pistol started life in 1947 as one of the last 06/29 pistols produced. Together with it's siblings P78219 and P78220 it was sold to Mauser in december, 1968 for the price of 500 DM each.

The pistols were then transformed into 'Mauser Parabellum' demo pistols, receiving serial numbers 10.0010, 10.0011 and 10.0012.

P78219 became 10.0010.
P78221 became 10.0011.
P78220 became 10.0012.

The pistols were prepared for the NRA and NSGA shows in the USA as there was not enough time to finish the first Mauser pre-production examples.

The presence of P78219 and P78221 (as well as E765) was confirmed on the 17th of December, 1968 by the development department.

On the 17th of Januari, 1969, the 2 pistols P78219 and P78221 had been turned into 10.0010 and 10.0011 and had left the development department.

Pistol 10.0012 (P78220) was eventually turned over to Dr. Gminder on the 6th of April, 1971. It ended up in the hands of a US collector.

Pistols 10.0010 and 11.0011 were sold to Interarms on the 24th of January, 1969 for the amount of 260 DM each (a bargain, considering that purchase from Bern had cost 500 DM each, apart from the hours spent on their conversion).

The whereabouts of 10.0010 are unknown at the time.

Nice catch, pays to look at all auctions; but not likely anyone else might have recognized what it was/is!

Gerben, very interesting pistol!

If you don‘t like this awful gun anymore, send it to Switzerland, I will take it...
