Which Luger to carry? - Page 2

I prefer my G-29 Glock, the little bitty 10mm.
But if I had to go Luger, it would be one of my Krieghoffs, just for reliability and the Cool Factor.

If it had to be a luger it would be a 1939 42 as thats the only one I own

so far as others my choice would be a wheel gun in .357 or larger for reliability and stopping power. If I was a realy big guy [I am not] it would be my raging bull in .454 casull. If the bad guys would line up just right I could prolly get 3 at a time to save ammo!

My job places me in harms way and althought there is a substantial military presents my employer allows PDW's if the employee have demonstrated knowledge and skill in the uses of his/her PDW. The last time I was "over there" I had a Colt .45 Government Model but I have been think this next time I just might take a Pistole 08. Now you going to think "now that is one foolish choice.". But let me explain. One reason is the coolness factor. The biggest reason is what I heard when I was much younger. When I was a kid I did yard work for a older German gentleman. I came into possesion a a German P08 manual and thought I would take it to him for a translation. It did not cross my mind that he might have been in the war on the losing side. When I handed him the manual you could see memories flood back. He asked if I had a P08 and I said no but would like to get one. He said they are very good pistols. From what little he told me I pieced together that he was in the army the last 3 years of the war (1943-1945). That he was a machinegunner (MG42). And that even though he had complete confidence in his machinegun he was alway glad his P08 was at his side. And he made sure to say it was a P08 and not a P38. He said it never failed him when he needed it. I didn't ask you he was shooting at. So, if it was good enough for Herr Hofmeister, I think it will work for me.

With you eyes closed could you tell comprable lugers apart. Is there much difference between the newer and older variety? If so in what way? PS Am I the only virgin?

It would be a mistake to carry a Luger IMHO when there are much more usable/efficient carry weapons available (IF and WHEN needed).

Try a mod 23 Glock in .40S&W or a sub Colt type in .45 auto.

I carry the Glock 23 w/a KKM SS barrel. FINE carry gun capable of stopping anything.

Lugers are beautiful. JUST that they weren't designed for "carry duty".

Of course there are better handguns to carry today. No one is disputing that fact. It was a general question to relieve boredom or to notice who chooses which Luger to carry or to get a general concensus about which Luger would be best.

The question was, "Which Luger to Carry?"
