DWM 1918 Artillery

Was hoping to get some info on this one. Marked 1918. Serial # 4660. Has been reblued and highly polished, so not a lot of collector value. Had some awful looking Franzite grips when I bought it. Replaced with some aftermarket wood....looks much better. May make my first attempt at restoring strawed parts, just for cosmetic purposes.

It appears to be a military 4" Luger with a long snout added. But regardless, it should be a great shooter.
The straw process isn't hard and would be a nice addition to the gun.
Tell us what specific information were you looking for, then we will tell you to send more photos.

No hearts broken here. Didn't pay all that much for it. I do wish it had an artillery rear sight, though. Don't guess there would be an aftermarket sight available?

I am always worried about scuffing my original Erfurt, so this gives me one to shoot without worry.

Calling it an "Artillery" doesn't make it one. Don't be tempted to buy a stock for it, you could win a vacation at the Grey Bar Hotel.

I can't see, is there a standard rear sight on the toggle? If so,you have a very nice, long, shooting plane (distance between f & r sights), and this one should be easy to shoot very accurately.

Yes it does.....I was thinking the sight on the toggle would not be accurate with the long barrel. Will take it to range this week and check it out.

Look at the distance between the sights and you will see the potential for accurate aiming. Your eyes and your ability are going to be the limitations here. Or at least they are in my case...

R, even if your could find a tangent rear sight, your barrel is not slotted for it. Tom
