Post DWM AE Accessories

(sorry about the first one) Hello again (again). Since becoming the proud owner of a 1906 DWM AE I have periodically watched various sites and considered obtaining appropriate accessories for my Luger. Does anyone have any information on the correct loading tool and cleaning items that would have come with a 1906? Regards. Joe

Joe Y, this is a complicated question to answer. 1906 was a year that DWM shipped contract lugers all over the world. Apparently the two most common contracts were the simple 1906 commercial, with a blank chamber (both in 7.65mm and 9mm) and the 1906 American Eagle, also with 4 3/4 inch barrel (7.65mm) and 4 inch barrel (9mm). European commercial 1906's were (I am told)sold without the holster and the customer had to buy this item separately. An example of such a holster is found pictured in the Forum Member's Gallery (4th gallery). This commercial holster is for the 4 3/4 inch barel and comes with unmarked tool which was a little thicker steel than later tools, pin punch (strawed) and a cleaning rod. American Eagle 1906's could have had a similar holster, but many other variations exist, manufactured by local US companies. It is hard to find these holsters but they occasionally appear on e-bay. I wish you good luck finding accessories for your 1906 AE.

Herbert, Thanks for the reply. Any information is helpful. It had been awhile since I looked at the Gallery and didn't think of it. Some beautiful holsters. Some of those pictures already helped to clarify some things. Regards, Joe

Does anyone know of any specific markings or characteristics on a DWM commercial loading tool and or holster in the 1906 time frame?

Joe Y, the early DWM loading tools were unmarked and said to be of slightly thicker guage steel than later ones. Lugerdoc, our esteemed Forum member Tom Heller, offers the largest number of Luger parts in the U.S. and perhaps the world. I would take him up on his offer, the price is right!
