Artillery Rig ID/Value?
I've had an Artillery Luger rig that I inherited - it was originally brought back after WW1 by my great uncle and has spent the majority of the time since then in a dresser drawer in the spare bedroom. What I have is the shoulder stock/leather, take down tool, cleaning rod and the holster itself. There is a stamped hallmark on the stock of a crown over what appears to be a script "S" and there is a number 4895 in the metal piece that would attach to the pistol.
My wife had sold the rig on Ebay but the buyer decided that he didn't like it and returned it - while he had it though, he did highlight the 4895 with something (white-out, paint, toothpaste?) to make it stand out and also the leather embossing on the inside of the holster flap (Schwartzenberger Nurnberg with a date that appears to be 1915). I hadn't tried to remove this because I'm not sure what he used and don't want to damage this antique. I do want to sell these items, my questions would be what would be a fair value and would it better to sell the items separately or together? Thanks for the assistance, Adam |
