Questions on a K- S42

I inherited a Luger with the K on the chamber, a Gothic S on the toggle, and a serial # 01 or 4201. According to the Standard Catalog of Firearms I think this is a 1934 model of which only 10,500 were made. I know nothing about Lugers or any gun for that matter. This Luger is in very good cond. with 80% bluing and good straw (from your website). It has an aluminum magazine with the same serial #. The grips are in excellent condition and appear to be wood. I do want to sell this Luger but need help in positive identification and value. Thanks, Tomarty

Love to see some pics, especially the bottom numbers of the mag and proofs on the Luger! Could be worth a good deal of $$$$$!!!

First of all congrats and welcome to the forum!

Does this Luger have any other markings? like Naval markings (Eagle over M on the left frame panel, and an O. property number lenthwise on the front grip strap)? This could make it worth more $$$!

Hello Tom,
If the pistol is as you dscribe and with all matching numbers then it is a highly desired collectible luger. The selling price could be up to $4000 or higher. If you really want to sell it, how about giving the forum members a chance to buy it first.
As Thor said a picture would be worth a thousand words and would allow us some drooling time.

In studying this Luger I find markings on the right side as shown in #s 42 & 43 of your technical info. The first # is B90 followed by s91 and then the stamp on the chamber and at 90 degrees on the barrel. My dad has had this luger in his dresser for as long as I can remember. He was not in WW2 but has had the pistol at least that long. I was born just prior to WW2. The magazine is loaded but I do not think the pistol has been fired since the war or prior to then. Unless Dad had an uncontrollable urge!

No real story on the Luger? [img]frown.gif[/img] Anyone you could ask and find out a bit more on it, uncles, mom, best friends or others? I just love to hear the story on a gun, where it has been, why and how it appeared in Dads closet, etc., etc.

Yup, any reaL stories on rifles or pistols (although I like Luger stories the best, [img]wink.gif[/img] ) of guns brought back by GI's. I have about 7 so far, put into a publisher pages, covers 27 pages of stories and pictures.
