Hi Patrick, Welcome to the forum. Your unit mark translates to: 24th Regiment, Machine Gun Company, weapon no. 69. How about some more photos of your Luger, I assume it's early since this regiment had only one machine gun company. Regards, Norm

Patrick, you have a Luger with a VERY special unit mark. It was one of the most famous regiments during the Great War. This regiment, Infantry Regiment Großherzog Friedrich Franz II. von Mecklenburg Schwerin No. 24, was the regiment that conquered the famous Fort Douaumont at the Verdun front. It is the first Luger of this regiment I know to exist.

This is the same gun, which was shown earlier on the boards. It has been bead blasted and a satin silver parkerizing or nickel applied. It is a nice shooter with a rare unit mark.
This pistol may be worth a restoration.

Thor here on our boards is one of the best.

Factors determining whether its worth the effort or not is what percentage of the parts match and how deeply the gun was buffed prior to refinishing. Look up and contact Thor here for a determination.

The Lugerman is another possible source. He can be slow but his work is good. But try our own Thor first.

Before you decide to send any of your firearms to Eugene Golubstov (aka Lugerman) you would be best served by doing a search on past comments concerning his work and over all customer satisfaction. I sent him a Mauser C96 “Broomhandle” a year ago for restoration work. To make a very long story short I had to threaten him with a lawsuit in order to get my gun back after over a year of unanswered emails and phone calls to him. And I’m not the only one who has had to go down this road with him; others have had the same problem too. It’s all here on the message board, just do a search under my name or Lugerman or Eugene Golubstov. Personally, I would never send him another gun no matter how nice a website he has.

He did a 1900 AE for me a couple of years ago. It did get a bit contentious after a lot of mssed deadlines, but he did come thru in the end with good quality work at the agreed upon price. Would I use him again? Certainly not if I was in a hurry.

Contentious is certainly a good description of my experience with Eugene Golubstov aka: Lugerman. I had about 18 months of "contentious" with him. He was quick to take my pistol and then not a word from him after that. He never returned my phone calls and never responded to my emails. But when my lawyer sent him a registered letter of intent explaining to him in very frank language that not only was I going to sue him in criminal court for theft but also report the gun as stolen to the BATFE, the Pennsylvania Attorneys General's Office and the Fairview Police Department I certainly got his attention then. He couldn't wait to get in contact with me after that. I had my Mauser C-96 back in 4 weeks. But I'm not the only guy who has had to take such drastic action, there are plenty of others with the very same experience. I'll never send another gun to Eugene Golubstov aka: Lugerman again. Instead I've sent a Navy Luger to Thor for restoration work and does respond when you write to him.
