I made a small mpeg video of my Luger firing eight shots flawlessly. Would that be of interest to this site? Is there someplace to upload it so others may see it???

I am pretty sure there would be interest.

I believe that you can upload a mpeg file to here (size is the problem, unsure if you can upload to the member gallery). Then you can provide a link, it depends on how large it is?

Johnny,
I liked your video, Good Shooting !
With Camera and Gun .
I noticed that when one advances the video a few frames at a time, there in a perceptable dip in the muzzle immediatly prior to the recoil.
Usually this will pull your shots low and left.
Try gripping the pistol with middle and third finger with the little finger lifted clear of the grip and somewhat pointed down range.
This reduces the tendancy to pull the shots down with the tightening of the last two fingers on the grip when the tension of the sear releasing allows the trigger to release and snap back.
This is usually corrected by the lifting of the little finger.
Just an observation.

Thanks, I'll consider that next time. I wasn't trying for accuracy, I was more interested in getting off all of the shots in the 15 seconds that the camera allows, and attempting to maintain at least a similar sight picture. If you or anyone else would like to see a different angle or perspective, I'm willing to try on my next trip to the range...

I for one am quite interested in seeing more.
Not only was the barrel dip noticeable but I also detected at least one ejected case and a partially open toggle, there was also a definite muzzle flash detected. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
How much more might we see if there is more to observe.
But I guess that these special delights are at the expense of how much time that is available for these things by Our Host "John D". <img border="0" alt="[king]" title="" src="graemlins/r.gif" />
I hope that he may spare us a few more of such items as this one is As Tony Says "Grrrrr-ate". <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Your seeing a limitation of my equipment. I used a Sony digital camera in movie mode. Its frame rate is a bit lower than some to get higher image quality. Thats why you may miss seeing some things. My next thought, might be to record from behind as it shoots at a water filled container, then the viewer could see everything from the gun shooting to the actual impact of the projectile. Just a thought...

I was able to step the MPEG Player in very small increments and found this "Spectacular Frame" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Muzzle Blast with the Breech Toggle Starting to Open. <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />
In this toggle position the breech has only withdrawn the cartridge about 4 mm.(0.160")
The dull red color of the flash indicates the ending of the flash, and the bullet is about half way to the target. <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" />
This is the first motion series in which I have been able to find this particular type of exposure.

Where did you test fire the Luger Johnny? That range in Grand Prairie still open?

Alpine. The Grand Prairie range closed many years ago. Strangely enough I only got to use the Grand Prairie range once after discovering it 1987. Closed a short time later...

That range is Mansfield still open? I used to shoot there. That place called the "Arlington Spotsman Club". I remember a 300 meter rifle range.

I'm not sure. I went there once, but I've never been back, and that was in the 70's!!!
