Default Achtung, achtung!!

I stopped by one of the Turner Sporting Goods stores today to check whether or not they had any Fiocchi .30 cal Parabellum.
The store in question is in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. When I went up to the ammo counter I noticed several "official" looking signs hanging in front of the ammo shelves.
It was a notification that per a Los Angeles City law, all sale of ammunition beginning 25 December through the 31st were prohibited! Turner's has been requiring fingerprints to buy ammunition for a long time now but this went way beyond mere inconvenience. I would bet a large amount of money that this law will be trotted out and posted again for the 4th of July, and whatever other holiday the L.A. City Commisars can target.
At present it applies only within the CITY limits and not the COUNTY, but as many of you know, starting in February 2011, fingerprinting to purchase ammunition will be mandatory throughout the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. I have not, nor will I ever buy anything from any of the Turner Sporting Goods stores. I would hope others would follow that course.
In closing, does anyone living in or around Los Angeles know where to get .30 Parabellum ?? If so, and if you wouldn't mind revealing it, please let me know.
Sorry for the rant.

I am just asking, is this a "turner" based decision or the counties?

if the counties, why would you not buy from turner again?

Shounldn't you be mad at the county?

Adlerauger -

I do not know if they still have any .30 Luger ammo in stock; however, I did get a case from these folks. And it is good clean stuff. It is worth a toll free call to check and see. Good luck.

Forget Turners, they do not want to sell or transfer pistols anymore. A buddy lost a sweet private party deal on a Mauser Luger due to a salesman who was making up requirements that didn't exist. ( You probably got the same guy)

Go down to Martin B Retting in Culver City. Great store, great people and when I was there a month ago they had Fiocchi 30 Luger in stock ( I bought some)

Default Pay no attention to that man behind the soap box !!

With regard to your question Ed as to why would I not wish to do business with Turners if the "no ammo for Christmas" policy is the State's rule and not Turners; I think the response from Saab-Bob pretty much echos my feelings about them. I'd had similar encounters with some of their salesman and I should have mentioned that in my "sermon on the Mount" I guess.
And thanks Mauser 720 for the tip to Martin B. Retting. As a matter of fact I bought the last two boxes of .30/Luger ( Fiocchi ) a week or so ago and the salesman said some other guy ( you?? ) had beat me to the rest.
I've spent a good part of the morning trying to locate a store within striking distance that still has my special brand
of "Luger Chow," but so far no luck. I live in Santa Clarita and have no problem going to Santa Barbara or Long Beach if I have to; or even farther maybe.
Thanks again for all the comments and tips. That's one of the reasons this forum is a pleasure to be on.
Best Regards,
Adler Auger

Adler and all, yes, I agree if a company irritates me (bad salesmen, bad practices etc) I too will simply not do business with them
