Why? Because if $6k is good, $8k is better...

Well, still cheaper than "Submariner"... and, this is much much rarer than Sub. Should be attractive to WWII Luger collectors... thanks for the link, book marked to see how it goes.

FYI, another one sold:

It's hard to sell higher than JTD. He had some followers (I have not bought anything from him. But I track his price).

Everything about this thread with over 60 posts seems a little strange! Eric

Just looked up BB (an 10-year old one) on this variation.

S/42 Dated Chamber, 98%=1850. 95%=1700. 90%=1300. Add 100% for Navy markings. Add 250 for original holster. Add 50% for matching mag. Add 100% for two matching mag. Add 20% for 1936. Add 30% for "strawed" 1937.

In theory, anything above BB is fashion driven. Obviously, this one is fashionable at this time.

Maybe surprising, but the most fashionable pistol on market is Russian Tokarev!! Unexpected? The gun has very modest book value: 70%=$145. Note that's not recent import. Recent import is lower: 70%=$60. The market value... I saw some sold a few thousand recently. Probably that implies the supply being very small, so a small group of collectors could pump the price up.
