Default P08 holster markings

Greetings all. Very new to Lugers so I apologize right now if I break any protocols. Acquired a P-08 that included a holster, belt and a cross strap. Has manufacturing marks and date. What's interesting is that the holster has matching numbers and several SS related symbols. From what little I know, holsters were usually not given serial numbers. Any info would be appreciated

It seems somebody got creative with a post war fake holster and some stamps.

And ruined the pistol's grips while he was at it.

Thanks Vlim. I had my doubts about the additional markings. I thought there was an interesting or unique story behind them. What 's worse was the grip modification because they're matching. Thanks again.

People who have never bothered to do any research get sucked in by fraudsters who peddle items reportedly from the SS. These people are so armored by any SS items they lose all the common sense and pay big $$.

This displayed rig is another example. Just put a "death Head on the pistol's grip or on a holster and it instantly become a former SS item and the price escalates. The SS had very limited access to acquire Lugers, as the army had the contract with Mauser and controlled the World War 1 surplus kept in armories. Members of the SS didn't decorate their weapons with "death head" pins. Most of those and other pins found on various holsters were placed there by GIs after capture.

GerColctor, very interesting notes. It's nice to know that the SS was not so vain as to not decorate or embellish their weapons or kits, either standard issue or personally bought. I am not enamored by the SS, I loathe them. I thought it was just another interesting piece of history and there might be other examples. Thanks and regards.
