Default Pigskin Holster

Definitely old. Luger and mag fit nicely. No marks of any kind. In Sturgess and Gortz, pg 1317, they show this holster. They say possibly Russian? Anyone have any idea? One like it for sale on Simpson's site.

The provision for straps on the back is very intriguing....

Can't say I have ever seen one for $125 on ebay. Havnt even seen one. And I look at their luger holsters daily for several years. Ben , In what area did you see these? Simsons wants $395 plus shipping for theirs. Actually a very well made holster. Hope I can find the origin and time frame. Any info will help. Bill

Bill,
I have frequently seen the origin of this type of holster being listed as Russian. I hope you are successful in determining if it is or isn't, because if it is I would love to acquire one for my Russian Luger!

Ben
Thanks . That is where I go daily. Probably went right over them. Must be an age thing. Can always blame it on the wife. Hope she doesn't read this. Bill

I have recently picked up one of these holsters. Per the mailing label, it came from Belaruse. Inside the flap, near the top, is a marking. It is a five pointed star with a 16 inside. Can anyone identify this mark.
Thank you
William

Would a German soldier put a Luger in one of those? I know that most Germans were more concerned about dirt getting into/on the Luger...was it possibly used for another hand gun?
