Joined the Luger club today

I just bought my first Luger, a 1910 DWM Luger 9mm, for $850. Visible parts match except for magazine. No import mark. Bore is good with some light pitting towards the muzzle and lands have strong grooves. Can someone tell me if this is a military or commercial model based on serial number? See link for pics.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum. Your 1910 DWM is military, only military guns were dated.

Things are not so clear pre-WW1. I believe I'm seeing military acceptance marks but commercial style numbers, and that may be common for those days. I think others more wise than myself will say that commercial guns were used for military purposes at that time.
Looks like a good gun and very reasonable priced.

Ponchsox, welcome to the club. Looks like you got a nice Luger for a decent price. I am sure you will enjoy it. Take some close up shots of the stampings on the right front of the receiver so we can clearly see the proofs.

Looks like the hold open has been added .
What does the bottoms of the mag look like?

You did very well for your first Luger.

This is a 1910 Amy pistole, not a commercial,and it appears to be correct. 1910 Lugers were numbered commercial style, with hidden numbers on the sideplate, takedown, extractor.

Can you post a picture of the magazine bottom?

Would you guys feel comfortable shooting this? I'm torn. Picked up a couple Mec Gar mags in case I decide to do so.

I would strip it completely to verify that all serial numbers match. If it is all matched I would not shoot it. Guys (including myself) go crazy over the guns without stock lugs.

at $850 I think you did very well and could easily turn it for a profit to buy a shooter grade luger.

Are there any marks on the front grip strap? And still important what does the bottom of the mag look like?

Very well indeed. The small proof above and behind the trigger on the right side is an indication that the hold open which keeps the toggle open after the last round is fired was added after the order to retrofit those not equipped so was made in mid-1913.

It's not an 'aversion', it's an impossibility. The various governments [fed, state, local] and corporations that provide the PCs and Internet access block 'social' sites like PhotoBucket, Imgur, SmugMug, etc to keep workers on the job and not 'socializing'. Further, those sites disappear and/or re-organize and the URLs for those offsite pictures change and the pics are lost to us forever.
