my fingers don always lik to print all those dang leters, so arties is easier than artillery's and then I don't know if the apostrophe thing goes after the (s) or before and don't really give a f&(*)

Problem with the forum concept, it is like e-mail, hard to see me wink. And that darn Garfield doesn't like playing around with smilies, or play on words, he must be a really straight-laced guy.... [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

If I was really interested in an item, I wouldn't say much about it either, but, (BUT) on the other hand, feedback on an item is nice, as is some of the guys will stay off of bidding if they see you bidding on an item.

I like to post links and pictures to learn stuff. Very seldom do I post on something that I am interested in purchasing, unless the opinion of others is very much needed, and at that time I will definitely state my interest.

I knew that you knew that I knew. But I don't know, sometimes my humor isn't side splitting and that sort of irritates me. How about you?

Garfield very much plays around with words. His sense of humor is not knee slapping but every once in a while you can see him chuckle.

Don't you remember, the term "Artillery" is not even valid. I think it is, from a purist's stand-point, Lange Pistole LP-08,...but that is really a hassel to type...I think "arty" is simply cute...

And yes, I do live in a valley. I live on the 4th. fairway of a world-class golf course; the 4th. is located in a valley...

p.s. By the way, I do own over 30 luger books...not too shabby for a beginner, IMHO...if there are any Bill Garrison books in print, please let me know. I would love to add them to my library (seriously...).

Alaska is the last bastion of the "end of the road-ers". I live in an area where there was once a few E-O-R's but the serious ones have packed up their camo and headed for Nome. There humor is a little quirky, but if you are tough, bearable.

As a military type, I am sure you are familiar with the profile of "90 day wonders". Bill is politely trying to persuade those not to be "too full of themselves". Saves embarrassment to themselves on down the road.

Hey Garie baby, I have a full set of all the arties plus a bunch of spares. Until you match or beat me, I make the rules and I think that Ed is perfectly alright in using the terms "arty" or "arties".

Ed and others,
I looked at the two arties and figured that the 5264499 one might be OK. The only thing that bothered me was the serial number '05' on the top toggle. The zero in that number did not look quite right. The pictures are a bit bright and I could not make out the adjustible front sight. The bluing looks a bit worn and I could not make out if there was any pitting. The barrel lock (got that Garie), or locking bolt to everyone else, had a flat surface which tells me that the artie has not been fooled with. But like Doubs said, there are some other questions to be answered. If the seller does not want to answer them, then maybe forget him. I would like to see the front serial numbers (barrel and frame) and something about the bore. At the moment, I can not recall a return policy stated. If the bidding stays under a thousand, then the buyer has a chance of getting an honest gun at a reasonable price.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! It's 15:30 here on the East Coast and the bidding for the two Artilleries just concluded. The matching DWM brought $1,351.00 and the mis-matched Erfurt topped out at $1,402!!

I had thoughts of bidding on the DWM as I have two Erfurt LP-08's and no DWM's. Any illusions I had of scoring a DWM LP-08 for a grand flew away more than an hour ago. It was interesting to watch, anyway.

I was watching the auction also. I canÃ¢??t believe they went for the price that they did. For a few dollars more they could have purchased a real collector piece.

This is the first GunBroker auction I have watched closely. Generally the prices on this site are absurd. What I donÃ¢??t understand is why the time would keep extending. The auction would get down to the last 2 or 3 minutes and then it would jump up to 15 or so. The auction went more than 30 minutes past the original ending time. How is that possible? I have never seen the same on the other auction sites.
