Eric, not much to say about them, really. They were marketed by Manufrance, which had a production facility in St. Etienne and a lavish sales room in Paris. Most of their business was done through their well known sales catalogs, which show that the Parabellum was not offered until around 1908. I have the 1907 edition of the catalog, which does not mention the Parabellum pistol yet.

Thank You, Thats more then I had before I was an exchange in 1973 with Bayonne famed for it Jambon de Bayonne Ham and where bayonets were made! I fell for the French girls and Sangria. The would all party in front of the abandoned German. I lost more then my pride! Im aware the were French manuals that went with the gun, I stay on the lookout! Tks

I've stayed at the San Miguel downtown. A lovely city with great food. I also toured all the remaining German coastal fortifications there, including the little shrine to the Virgin across a little bridge..

San Sebastion and Biarritiz were the big towns. Each bordering on the atlantic on the southwest corner bordering France and Spain. I lived with a Basque family for 2 summer an an exchange program. I was only 17. The family I lived with had a rough luger that was hidden in the foundation wall. If only I knew then what I know now! This was my first Luger I actually held in my hand and I liked it! I was afraid to sneak it. I remember it was rough and proboly belonged to the French resistance. My partner Bruno Duclois was a partier, as were my Basque family. Could the Basque party, Laced oozo in fresh sangria, caldo gelago and shrimp ajio! We drank out of a leather bladder then fell off my moped! Bayonetes were first made in Bayonne, France! The summer of 1972. I should write a screen play! Thanks for letting Me share that!
