loading problem
I tested a luger with two rounds in the magazine. The first round is no problem to fire but the weapon is not reloading and stays open with a round in the magazine. When I do the cycle manually there is never a problem. Is there a problem with the "hold open" or can somebody explain this problem.

Your holdopen may be kept from doing its job properly by swollen wood on the inside of the grip. The holdopen is operated by the magazine button pushing up under holdopen. See if this problem happens if you fire the gun with the right grip removed...
Another problem you may have is weak ammunition. You did not mention the caliber, but if it is 7.65 Luger (.30 Luger) much of this ammo is intentionally underpowered because it may be used in guns not designed for modern ammunition. It could also be that the main recoil spring may not be the proper one for your Luger and may be too strong... You magazine may also not be a good fit for your Luger. Many Lugers are magazine finicky... try a different one. I hope this has been helpful... Welcome to the Lugerforum.

Hold-Open Spring
Quote:
Hi: Let me restate, your toggle stays fully open with the second round fully in the magazine. If this is the case, it sounds like your "hold open spring" is weak and your hold open is activating under the recoil of your first round. Contact Luger Doc for a replacement spring and assistance in understanding your problem further. Sieger |

Thanks for the advice.
I have inspected the hold open and it seems normal.I did the test with 5 rounds in the magazine and the reloading cycle is OK. |

Sounds like that particular mag is allowing the follower button to activate HO, with one round still in the mag. Should be OK with new in spec mags. TH
