stove pipe jam
I went shooting on Monday at an indoor range with
my 9mm luger. Every shot failed to eject properly. I tried 3 different magazines. All had the same problem. Two magazines had strong springs, one mag made a medium strength spring. I was shooting factory ammo. Is the main spring in the grip too strong. Pulling back on the toggle after the jam ejected the case and a new cartridge loaded OK. Any ideas? Ray |

I assume it's a Mauser? Heard somewhere saying Mauser's main spring is stronger than that of DWM, and requires relatively hotter ammo to work properly (dangerous: please wait experts in the forum to confirm this, and don't over do it). I would think regular Winchester 115gr FMJ sold in Walmart should work on Mauser. I have never tried it on Mauser Luger because I have not gotten one yet.

Ray,
Does the hold-open work? Load a single round and see if it locks back. If not it may be an indication that the main spring is too strong for the ammo you are using, although there are other possibilites. Define "factory ammo." The bulk Winchester ammo should work well enough. The fact that every round stovepiped in three magazines suggests that it is more likely the ammo or the gun and not the magazine. Has the barrel/receiver been modified at the chamber? Best of luck. KFS |

If you are using Remingtons they will cause problems.
Is this the first time you have ever fired it? If so you may be "limp wristing" which is known to cause problems. Othere areas could be ejector or extracter. IMO I don't think it could be 3 bad mags. I would start with using Winchester 115gr white box if you are not using that already.

I guess I shot already 400-450 rounds Remington ammo. I shot American Eagle and Independence ammo (200rds), too, but for my opinion they are a littlebit too hot. I did not found Winchester whitebox in my area, yet. I've ordered them at the "Cabela's" SEVERAL MONTH ago, but they did not deliver , yet The Rem UMC ammo is a littlebit shorter compared to other 9mm brands, but they work excellent for my Luger. I hope I get my Winchester whitebox ammo soon.

Generally, the WW2 Mauser PO8 have a 22 turn (vise 19 on WW1 9mms) recoil spring, to enable them to use the same ammo as the 9mm SMGs. So you could try some +P ammo to see if that improves your function, but more likely either your ejector is sticking in the receiver or your extractor is worn or needs a new spring. TH

Rems don't work in my 2 Lugers they stove pipe. White box runs well.
